Frequently Asked Questions
Are the LED batteries replaceable?
No. The LED blocks contain non-replaceable LR41 button batteries.
Can children access the button batteries?
No. The batteries are enclosed during normal use. This product has been independently tested against the applicable Australian button/coin battery safety and information standards.
Block colour: Light passes through each coloured block differently. Lighter shades like clear, yellow and pink tend to glow brighter. Deeper colours like blue and purple absorb more light, so they can look softer even when the LED is just as strong.
Battery level: Each block has its own sealed button battery, and no two batteries hold exactly the same charge. Blocks that get played with more will also use their battery faster. So over time, some blocks may glow a little softer than others.
LED variation: Like all LEDs, the tiny lights inside each block vary a little in brightness. This is normal and doesn’t affect how the blocks work.
Connection and angle: How the blocks are joined, and the angle you’re looking from, change how much light reaches your eye. Turning or reconnecting a block can change how bright it looks.
Room lighting: The glow is much easier to see in a dim room than in bright daylight, so the same block can look quite different depending on where you play.
A slight difference in brightness is expected and is part of what makes each build glow in its own way. The batteries are sealed inside each block for safety, so they can’t be replaced. If a block doesn’t light up at all, please contact us at [email protected] and we’ll help sort it out.

We wanted to bring the magic of their digital games into the real world. So, we created MiniBlox: Australian safety-approved magnetic building blocks featuring environmental textures and fantasy elements that the kids already love. It became the perfect bonding activity which gets them off their devices and building together. What started in our living room has now brought hands-on joy to over 20,000 Australian households. Whether you find us online, at local weekend markets, or in boutique toy stores, we remain a passionate family-run business. We proudly stand behind our blocks with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Every light-up block has its own small LED, powered by a built-in button battery. A few natural factors can make the glow look a little different from block to block:
- Block colour: Light passes through each coloured block differently. Lighter shades like clear, yellow and pink tend to glow brighter. Deeper colours like blue and purple absorb more light, so they can look softer even when the LED is just as strong.
- Battery level: Each block has its own sealed button battery, and no two batteries hold exactly the same charge. Blocks that get played with more will also use their battery faster. So over time, some blocks may glow a little softer than others.
- LED variation: Like all LEDs, the tiny lights inside each block vary a little in brightness. This is normal and doesn’t affect how the blocks work.
- Connection and angle: How the blocks are joined, and the angle you’re looking from, change how much light reaches your eye. Turning or reconnecting a block can change how bright it looks.
- Room lighting: The glow is much easier to see in a dim room than in bright daylight, so the same block can look quite different depending on where you play.
A slight difference in brightness is expected and is part of what makes each build glow in its own way. The batteries are sealed inside each block for safety, so they can’t be replaced. If a block doesn’t light up at all, please contact us at [email protected] and we’ll help sort it out.
No, the batteries can't be replaced. For safety purposes, the battery within the blocks are sealed.
With normal use, the batteries should last 2-3 months.
The lights will automatically turn off after 15 minutes of continuous operation to conserve power.
We recommend this product for children (and adults!) ages 4 and up.

Loved by over 20,000 Aussie Families
I buy them thomas train and legos too, so I know some things just cost a lot. These also will last a long time, like legos and our trains, you can pass them down from kid to kid. I can keep them on a shelf for my grandkids and any other kid that comes around, and to play with now and again myself. I love the rattle sound and the feel of the clack as each pulls together. I think they stick together decently well and I was able to build a tree with pieces at an angle as well as the basic side to side. I think these would be great for kids or adults that like sensory amusements. Nice to run your finger across, kinda has a fuzzy slightly lifted feel. It is a plastic texture but feels good, and is well built.
The images are printed on the blocks (not a sticker) which adds a much nicer quality to the item. They work well with other brands of magnetic block sets I’ve gotten in the past. There are no visible seams on the blocks, which eases any concerns I had over the blocks breaking open and spilling magnetic beads.
They fit really well in a small 5x7 photo box that I keep in my child’s going out bag. They are a wonderful toy to keep kids occupied in the car or out at dinner instead of just sticking a tablet in front of them. They are great for imaginative play. I’ve seen some reviews where the other brands of magnetic blocks don’t come with enough to build the cool items featured on the boxes; however, this set came with a decent amount of blocks and I thought it was more than enough variations in colors/designs.
